"That's gorgeous. I have to have it!"
Products designed for consumers have approximately three seconds to catch the attention and interest of a potential buyer. In a store environment, this means that in order for a product to be successful it must look striking. Once the visuals of the product have enticed the buyer to examine the product closer, the product has a longer window of time to let the buyer know what it is, what need it fills, and how it works. The following products were designed as student work in collaboration with a major consumer product company. The goal was to create products that would catch a buyers attention within the span of three seconds.
2020 Design Category: Sustainability
The 2020 prompt for this collaboration was to create consumer products with sustainable materials, manufacturing, and if applicable, uses. All of the products were designed using materials from a specific catalog of sustainably sourced options, and are intended to be manufactured using processes that reduce water, energy, and resource usage.

2021 Design Category: Rituals and Habits
The 2021 prompt for this collaboration was to create consumer products that fill the needs of rituals and habits in people's daily lives. In order to address this product area, I examined habitual or meaningful activities throughout the day, and created consumer products to embody, facilitate, or otherwise amplify those activities.
Balance Birdies
These soft balance objects are great for expert yogis, amateur dancers, or anyone looking to improve their balance and form when stretching. They can be placed on the wrists, ankles, or head to increase resistance and improve posture.
